Yohimbine extracts are produced by an evergreen plant found in Congo, Gabon, Cameron, and Nigeria. The extracts contain the active ingredient alkaloid which is referred to as Yohimbine.
Uses and Benefits
The compound Yohimbine is widely used in the US for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and can be found in many health food stores and online stores. However, the use of the compound is discouraged in other countries like Germany because it causes anxiety and a rise in blood pressure.
Traditionally, the compound Yohimbine and its extracts were widely used in Africa for the treatment of fever, leprosy, and common colds, and with advanced research, the extracts have been promoted to treat conditions like erectile dysfunction.
Although there is no evidence that Yohimbine can treat erectile dysfunction, it has been found to relax and direct blood flow in the body leading to erection for men with such dysfunctions. It is also said to stimulate a part of the brain that is responsible for inducing sexual desire.
According to recent discoveries, Yohimbine was found to be more effective than a placebo. Taking 30mg of Yohimbine per day for 4 weeks proved to be more effective in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, no studies have been done to compare Yohimbine to drugs like Viagra and Kamagra.
Yohimbine can also be used for weight loss. It can increase lipolysis by alpha-2 receptor activation which reduces the accumulation of fat in the body. However, recent studies have shown that 43 mg of Yohimbine per day did not affect body fat, cholesterol distribution, and body weight. Yohimbine is also used to reduce depression although when used in higher doses it affects the body.
Disadvantages and News about the Product
Although the product Yohimbine has lots of advantages for use, it also has disadvantages which come in the form of side effects. In Germany, the use of the compound is highly discouraged because there have been reported cases of kidney failure and seizures that have been associated with Yohimbine.
Among the side effects that may be experienced after taking a normal dose include dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, heartburn, and nausea. Higher doses have been linked to an increase in blood pressure, hallucination, and in some cases death. Nursing and pregnant women are also not advised to take Yohimbine because of its side effects. It should not be used together with antidepressants unless supervised by a doctor.
